THE POLICY JAM
On August 18, 2022, Youth Climate Lab hosted an online policy jam entitled "Putting a Cap on Canadian Oil and Gas" in collaboration with Environmental Defence. With 52 registrants, this event convened youth (under 30) from across so-called Canada to discuss their priorities and opinions regarding the recent discussion paper published by the Government of Canada regarding cap and cut options emissions for the oil and gas sector, as well as the future of oil and gas policy in what is currently known as Canada. Youth Climate Lab identified the need to host a virtual engagement on the request for feedback to demystify the long and technical discussion paper and to ensure youth voices were represented in feedback to the government.
The Putting a Cap on Canadian Oil and Gas policy jam was made possible with financial support from the Canadian Climate Institute.
