The Communications Coordinator plays a key role in helping Albertans connect with environmental issues, campaigns, and opportunities for action.
Working closely with the Campaign and Network Directors and AEN team, the Coordinator supports and implements communications strategies across AEN’s programs, campaigns, events, and member engagement activities.
This role is ideal for an early-career communications professional who is passionate about environmental sustainability, community engagement, and storytelling. The successful candidate will be creative, organized, collaborative, and eager to learn. They will help create compelling content, strengthen relationships with members and partners, grow AEN’s online presence, and support communications that inspire meaningful public participation.
The Coordinator will have opportunities to build skills in strategic communications, digital engagement, campaign communications, media relations, and nonprofit advocacy while contributing to some of Alberta’s most important environmental conversations.

CAFES (Community Action for Environmental Sustainability)
CAFES (Community Action for Environmental Sustainability) is a network organization that advocates for environmental sustainability and promotes environmental and climate action and leadership in Ottawa’s neighbourhoods. Through a membership-based network of residents and community groups, CAFES works to build a green, healthy, inclusive, and livable city for all.
The Intern will work under the guidance of the Executive Director of CAFES. The intern may also be assigned to specific projects and work with respective project managers and program coordinators. The Intern will support the planning, organization and execution of the Green Fair Ottawa (formerly Smartnet Sustainability Showcase). They will support the planning, organization and execution of CAFES community and climate events. They will also engage with CAFES members/member organizations and their environmental neighbourhood initiatives, including attending community eco-events and responding to general inquiries from stakeholders.

Indigenous Canada Program: Cuso Micro-Grants
Cuso International
Cuso will provide small grants of up to $5,000 to Indigenous Youth Leaders (ages 15-30) to support projects taking place in Northern Canada. Youth Leaders (Grantees) will receive mentorship, training, and capacity-building to support the implementation of the project.
Projects will:
1. Be designed and implemented by Indigenous Youth: Focus on programming, training, or capacity building opportunities for Indigenous youth (ages 15-30), based on specific needs in communities. The micro-grant can be used as a steppingstone to start a larger project or implement a new idea.
2. Contribute to one or more of:
Reconciliation
Building an Inclusive Canada
Preserving the environment
Strengthening youth resilience
3. Benefit at least 10 youth (including the Youth leader). Projects can involve and benefit other actors in addition to the Indigenous Youth, ex. parents, teachers, adults, Elders, etc.

As part of the Conservation Area Programs and Services team, this role is responsible for educational and recreational program delivery, cultural interpretation, special event programming and other activities as assigned. Indigenous Climate Action (ICA) is excited to relaunch its Indigenous Youth Wellness Honorarium! These honorariums are intended for Indigenous Youth engaged in frontline activism and/or climate justice organizing. At ICA we know that financial and mental health barriers often impact Indigenous Peoples when engaging in climate justice work. By creating this fund we hope to remove some of those barriers that come up when upholding our sacred responsibilities.
