Wawanesa Climate Champions x Canadian Colleges for a Resilient Recovery (C2R2)

Through Canadian Colleges for a Resilient Recovery, Wawanesa Insurance is awarding five outstanding youth-led projects $30,000 each to launch or enhance a climate adaptation or climate mitigation project.

Projects must focus on climate adaptation or mitigation innovations that will help Canadian communities prepare for and respond to extreme weather and long-term climate impacts, building resilience to floods, wildfires, heat waves, drought, and other climate-related risks. Both mitigation and adaptation projects are welcome, but there will be a greater emphasis on adaptation and extreme weather events.

Applicants must be 18-30 years old and enrolled in a full-time or part-time post-secondary program or have recently graduated (within 2 years) from a post-secondary program at one of the 15 identified C2R2 Partner Institutions.

The Senior Coordinator, Community Garden plays a central role in supporting the Moss Park Community Garden as a welcoming, inclusive, and community-led space. This role focuses on garden workshops and events, peer-led activities, food growing and harvesting, and broader community engagement connected to Building Roots’ programs.

Working closely with the Coordinator, Community Garden, Director, Community Engagement and Manager, Food Programs, the Senior Coordinator helps ensure the garden is accessible, well-animated, and responsive to the needs and interests of community members with a strong emphasis on outreach, relationship-building, and community presence on weekends.

Community Engagement & Ecological Forestry Intern

Medway Community Forest Cooperative

The Community Engagement & Ecological Forestry Intern will play a key role in connecting people to the Medway Community Forest and the surrounding communities by promoting community events, engaging the public, and managing visitor experience. The position will support a wide range of activities across MCFC’s forestry operations, community outreach, biodiversity monitoring, recreation management, and forest health initiatives, blending fieldbased forestry and conservation work with community engagement, digital communications, and campground support. The intern will work closely with the MCFC’s Operations Manager and Ecological Forestry Co-ordinator, and engage with several partner organizations involved in sustainable, community-based forest management. This role is ideally suited for someone passionate about rural community development, ecological forestry, public outreach and outdoor fieldwork.

Senior Program Manager

This role is fully remote and would require travel within Canada approximately 6 times per year. The successful candidate will lead the Climate Resilience for SMEs program, developing and hosting customized education and engagement opportunities with Chambers of Commerce, Business Improvement Areas, Boards of Trade or other business networks. This is a key new role within the organization, created due to the strong success of this program in our pilot year.

Reporting to the Senior Engineer, Water Quality Science, the Specialist will conduct water quality analysis focusing on E. coli and Microbial Source Tracking (MST). The work will combine field sampling, specialized laboratory analysis using Digital Polymerase Chain Reaction (dPCR) technology, complex data analysis, and the preparation of technical reports for both internal and external stakeholders.

The podcast series is being developed by Okwaho Equal Source, with Indigenous leadership at its core.

What participation involves:

  • A welcoming 15–30-minute per-interview discussion via Zoom

  • A one-hour podcast conversation (via Zoom)

  • A relaxed, Indigenous-centered approach to sharing knowledge, wisdom, and hope

  • A really good internet connection (alternatively, a phone call could also work)

Indigenous Canada Program: Cuso Micro-Grants

Cuso will provide small grants of up to $5,000 to Indigenous Youth Leaders (ages 15-30) to support projects taking place in Northern Canada. Youth Leaders (Grantees) will receive mentorship, training, and capacity-building to support the implementation of the project. 

Projects will: 

1. Be designed and implemented by Indigenous Youth: Focus on programming, training, or capacity building opportunities for Indigenous youth (ages 15-30), based on specific needs in communities. The micro-grant can be used as a steppingstone to start a larger project or implement a new idea. 

2. Contribute to one or more of:  

  • Reconciliation 

  • Building an Inclusive Canada 

  • Preserving the environment 

  • Strengthening youth resilience 

3. Benefit at least 10 youth (including the Youth leader). Projects can involve and benefit other actors in addition to the Indigenous Youth, ex. parents, teachers, adults, Elders, etc. 

Cuso International

  • Location: Nunavut, Northwest Territories or The Yukon

  • Funding: Up to $5,000 per project


Program Associate, education

As part of the Conservation Area Programs and Services team, this role is responsible for educational and recreational program delivery, cultural interpretation, special event programming and other activities as assigned. Duties may include delivering educational and recreational programs such as field trips and day camps to children, youth and adults, as well as leading guided hikes and tours of historical buildings to park visitors. This role is responsible for safely delivering exceptional and engaging educational programs, articulating curriculum-linked content, maintaining programming spaces and materials, providing excellent customer service to participants//students/visitors, as well as ensuring the safety of program participants.

Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority

Indigenous Youth Wellness Honorarium

    This program is designed to be as accessible as possible, and there are many ways this grant can be utilized. Here are some examples:

    → If you live in the city, you could use it to pay for gas or a ride share to get out on the lan
    → Help to pay for a counseling session
    → Provide an honorarium to an elder for their teachings
    → Pay for an art or yoga class or exercise training session

Indigenous Climate Action (ICA) is excited to relaunch its Indigenous Youth Wellness Honorarium! These honorariums are intended for Indigenous Youth engaged in frontline activism and/or climate justice organizing. At ICA we know that financial and mental health barriers often impact Indigenous Peoples when engaging in climate justice work. By creating this fund we hope to remove some of those barriers that come up when upholding our sacred responsibilities.


Canadian Youth Climate Action Awards

Pivot Green

The Canadian Youth Climate Action Award recognizes the vital work young Canadians are doing in the fight against climate change. Established in 2022, the award provides prize money to existing worthwhile youth-led Canadian projects. First prize is $7,500, runner-up prizes are $3,500, and honourable mentions receive $1,000 each. Award applications open on February 13, 2026 through the Pivot Green website. Award applications close on March 16, and the award prizes will be announced on April 15, 2026.

Across Canada, youth are organizing, influencing policymakers and corporations, and creating essential programs in their communities. The number and quality of projects applying for the award far exceeded our expectations. Over the past three years, we have recognized 25 youth-led projects and distributed over $37,000 in prize money. The award applicants and recipients vary geographically and by activity. Here is a short video highlighting our 2025 prize winners.

One of the great joys of being on the Pivot Green team is presenting the Canadian Youth Climate Action Awards and cheques in person to the top winners. We hope our attendance will inspire and encourage those involved to continue their fine work. But each time we present, these extraordinary young Canadians turn the tables on us, and inevitably, we are the ones who leave feeling not only inspired but energized and more committed than ever to continue with this award.
