Letters for Leadership: An Earth Day Workshop for Youth (part of FLIP 3.0)
Are you passionate about environmental justice? Do you want to see your work contribute to collective impact? Join us on Saturday April 22nd from 1-3PM (ET) for our first FLIP 3.0 event, an Earth Day letter writing workshop! You will not only learn how to write an impactful letter to your elected officials, but also contribute to a published joint-statement on what environmental leadership should look like.
A collaboration between GreenPAC and Youth Climate Lab, the workshop is free and open to all – no prior experience necessary! You’ll have the opportunity to acquire critical tools and skills to engage in environmental advocacy through letter-writing at the individual AND collective level. Importantly, this workshop is not just about writing a letter – it’s also about creating a community of young leaders who are passionate about environmental justice and want to make a difference. Youth are inherently political and active in all sorts of ways. Through this workshop, you will connect with other like-minded young leaders and share your visions of environmental leadership.
The workshop will begin with a keynote speech from Jonathan Pedneault (Deputy Leader of the Green Party). This will be followed by a group brainstorming session, where you will engage in a discussion about your concerns and ideas on how to strengthen environmental leadership in politics. GreenPAC and YCL facilitators will then provide guidance on how to structure and articulate these ideas in a clear and impactful way during the writing process. This will result in a ready-to-send individual letter to your MP as well as a joint letter to amplify impact on the collective level. Before the session ends, you will have the opportunity to network with your peers and connect on your shared goals in environmental advocacy.
