COP27 Panel: Equipping Young People in Effective Climate Governance with Green Africa Youth Organization (GAYO)

hosted at the Green Zone
9:00-10:00 UTC

The global south countries have seen a variety of youth-led initiatives and interventions over the past years as a result of the growing significance of youth participation in global climate action and governance. It is worth reflecting on whether, and to what extent, certain youth voices and perspectives in climate governance are privileged over others, and what it takes to achieve climate justice. This session brings together speakers within climate spaces to inculcate the requisite skills and knowledge that fosters effective climate governance while highlighting the achievements of the Youth Climate Council, an initiative of GAYO, which bring young people’s voice to climate decision making
